New Mexico Installation, Service and Repair (LP-5) Contractor License

The Installation, Service and Repair (LP-5) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

• Install or erect liquid transfer facilities
• Install or repair piping and equipment attached to cargo containers
• Install, service, and repair appliances, equipment, and piping for use with LP gas in residences and commercial buildings, including mobile homes, recreational vehicles, and similar units

(The scope of the work for the LP gas appliances in this classification does not include the HVAC ductwork or hydronic piping systems connected to any appliance).

How to Get the Installation, Service and Repair (LP-5) Contractor License in New Mexico?

1. Apply for eligibility through PSI©.
   • Fill out the Qualifying Party Certificate.
   • Send the document and fee to:

2. After being accepted, apply for the PSI© examination.
   • To apply online:
     1. Create an account or sign in at the official site of PSI©.
     2. Complete the examination information (include the Social Security Number and zip code).
     3. Schedule the examination and pay the fee.
   • Apply by mail or fax for the PSI© examination:
     1. Fill out the New Mexico LP Gas Contractor Examination Registration Form.
     2. Pay the corresponding fee and send it to:

   • When applying by phone, fill out the Contractor Examination Registration Form and call (855) 807-3994.
3. Take and pass the following examinations:
   • New Mexico Installation, Service and Repair (LP-5) Contractor Trade Exam
   • New Mexico Business and Law Examination (PSI©)
4. After passing the examinations, the applicant must gather and complete the following documents:
   • Contractor License Application
   • (CID) Contractor License Code Bond
   • Qualifying Party Certificate
   • Passing scores of the exams
   • Financial Responsibility Bond Proof
   • Proof of New Mexico Tax ID number application with a registration certificate or official stamp
5. Licenses will be delivered by USPS once they are approved.

If applying as a business or entity, proof of registration with the New Mexico Secretary of State is required.
