New Mexico Electrical Signs and Outline Lighting (ES-1) Contractor License
The Electrical Signs and Outline Lighting (ES-1) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:
- Includes commercial electrical wiring methods of 5000 volts, nominal or less, required to complete the installation of the sign or outline lighting where a “sign circuit” or outline lighting circuit has been provided within 10 feet of the roof or wall of the structure supporting the sign or outline lighting
- Concrete for the foundation of poles
- Build structures to support signs associated with excavating, trenching, boring, shoring, backfilling, and compacting
- Installation of underground electrical wiring methods of 5000 volts, nominal, or less required to complete the “sign circuit” installation not to exceed 10 feet from the foundation of the sign
How to Get the Electrical Signs and Outline Lighting (ES-1) Contractor License in New Mexico?
- Apply for eligibility throughPSI©:
- Complete the Qualifying Party Certificate
- Fill out the Work Experience Certificate
The Electrical Signs and Outline Lighting (ES-1) Contractor License requires a minimum of 2 years of experience.

- Pay the fee and schedule the examination

- Complete the New Mexico Contractor Examination Registration Form
- Pay the exam fee and send all documents to PSI©:

- Contractor License Form
- CID Contractor License Code Bond
- Qualifying Party Certificate
- Proof of Financial Responsibility Bond
- Proof of current New Mexico Tax ID number application with a registration certificate or official stamp.
