Mechanical and Plumbing

For the State of New Mexico, mechanical and plumbing work must be under the supervision or performed by someone who has a Journeyman Certificate. Therefore, even if you have a contractor’s license in one or more trades, you must either be or employ a Certified Journeyman to perform the work under a particular classification. A Journeyman certificate will be active for three years, starting on the last day of the month of issuance. The Construction Industries Division issues the Mechanical and Plumbing contractor licenses to those businesses which are owned by or employ someone who is certified by the state as a Qualifying Party.
