The Canals, Reservoirs, or Irrigation Systems (GF-3) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

• Construct, erect, alter, repair, or demolish canals, dams, reservoirs, and irrigation systems
• Excavate, ditch, fill, compact, and place pre-cast components, waterproof membranes and liners, concrete reinforcement, abutments, and buttresses in connection therewith
• Install tanks, pumps, pipelines and substations incidental to the project
• Irrigation activities and piping, when applicable solely to agriculture production or livestock maintenance on a farm or ranch, excluding electrical work, are exempt from licensing requirements

How to Get the Canals, Reservoirs, or Irrigation Systems (GF-3) Contractor License in New Mexico?

1. Meet the experience requirement:
   • At least two years of documented experience in the Canals, Reservoirs, or Irrigation Systems (GF-3) Contractor field.
2. Apply for eligibility through PSI©.
   • Fill out the Qualifying Party Certificate.
   • Complete the Work Experience Certificate.

4. Once the documents and the eligibility have been approved, schedule and pay for the examination.
   • To apply online, the candidates must:
     1. Sign in or create an account on the PSI© official website.
     2. Enter zip code for exam locations.
     3. Choose the corresponding examination and add the social security number.
     4. Pay for and schedule the exam.
   • To apply by mail or fax:
     1. Open and check the General Construction Candidate Information Bulletin.
     2. Fill out the New Mexico Contractor Examination Registration Form.
     3. Pay the fees and send the documents via mail or fax to:

5. Take and pass the following examinations:
   • New Mexico Canals, Reservoirs, or Irrigation Systems (GF-3) Contractor Trade Exam
   • New Mexico CORE (GF) Contractor Trade Exam
   • New Mexico Business and Law Examination (PSI©)
6. After passing the examination, complete the Application for Contractor License and the Construction Industries Division Contractor License Code Bond.
7. Gather the following documents and send them by mail to PSI©:
   • Contractor License Form
   • CID Contractor License Code Bond
   • Valid Qualifying Party Certificate
   • Examination Passing Scores.
   • Proof of Financial Responsibility Bond
   • Proof of current New Mexico Tax ID number application with a registration certificate or official stamp.
