Nevada Landscape Contracting (C10) Contractor License

The Landscape Contracting (C10) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

  • Nonload-bearing walkways using brick or stone not exceeding 200 square feet in area
  • Patio areas using brick or stone not exceeding 400 square feet in area
  • Landscape retaining walls to a height not exceeding 3 feet and landscape lighting not exceeding 24 volts
  • Grade and prepare plots of land for architectural horticulture
  • Decoratively treat, arrange, plant and maintain:
    • Gardens
    • Lawns
    • Shrubs
    • Vines
    • Trees and other vegetation
  • Construct systems of drainage and landscape irrigation, by installing
    • Rocks
    • Sand
    • Gravel
    • Other landscape materials that use xeriscape principles
    • Hydroseed by spraying mulch
    • Seeds and nutrients under pressure
    • Control soil erosion
    • Install nonengineered decorative landscape ponds

How to Get a Landscape Contracting (C10) Contractor License?

  1. Obtain a Nevada Business ID before completing the Contractor Application. Contact the Nevada Secretary of State to complete the Nevada Business License application to obtain a Business ID
  2. Gather the necessary documents requested by the Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB) and submit them with the contractor application:
  3. Submit the completed Work Experience Certificate Form with one of the following specifications:
    • A current master's degree certificate issued by a government agency or its officially recognized representative in a field substantially similar to the classification applied for
    • Proof of transferable military experience and training
    • Proof of eligibility for Licensure by Endorsement
    • Four Certification of Work Experience Forms (Certificates) are needed for each classification applied for:
      • Total hours of experience (all certificates combined) must be at least four full years (1460 days). Individual certificates can be a maximum of 4 years of experience
      • The certificate must be completed by an employer other than the applicant company. If you are an independent contractor, this must be completed by the client you work for. Dependents can only complete the certificate if they are the employer
      • Each certificate must prove experience in the trades applied for. Certificates that refer to incomplete or actual work performed will not be accepted
      • Any certification found to be false or misleading may be deemed a misrepresentation or omission of material fact in violation of NRS 624.3013(2)
      • Additional documents may be requested from the Board if necessary
  4. Fill out and send the Nevada Contractor License Application Form with all of the completed documents
  5. Wait for the exam eligibility form once your application has been submitted and your work experience has been verified
  6. Complete and pass the Business and Law and trade exam administered by PSI©:
  7. Once the NSCB approves the license, the applicant must provide evidence of the License Bond and workers' compensation insurance referred to in the approval letter
  8. License issuance will be completed by NSCB and mailed to the address on the application
