Michigan Unlimited Heating Service Contractor License

The Unlimited Heating Service Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

• Service heating equipment and systems with the following characteristics:
  • Thermal capacity
  • Fuel oil grade
  • All fuel types

How to Get the Unlimited Heating Service Contractor's License in Michigan?

1. Satisfy the criteria for licensure:
   • Be of good moral character.
   • Have at least 3 years or 6,000 hours of experience in the Unlimited Heating Service classification.
     • Include a thorough description of each previous work performed, along with its corresponding dates, employers, and length of work.
     • Include the types of equipment or systems worked on (e.g. venting and duct systems, types of refrigerants, tonnage, etc.).
   • If adding a new classification to an existing license, you must have held the pre-requisite classification for not less than 3 years IMMEDIATELY preceding the date of your application to qualify to add a classification.
     • Unlimited Heating Service - Must have HVAC or Limited Heating Service
2. Fill out an online application or send a completed paper form by mail to P.O. Box 30255, Lansing, MI 48909, along with the corresponding non-refundable application fee and the required documents.
3. Expect a response from the corresponding Department and if approved PSI© will contact the applicant in order to schedule the examination.
4. Take the exam(s).
5. Upon successful completion of the exams, the testing company will notify the licensing board and a license will be issued.
