How to Get the Solid Fuel Equipment and Vented Decorative Gas Appliances Contractor's License in Michigan?

  1. Satisfy the criteria for licensure:
    • Be of good moral character.
    • Have at least 3 years or 6,000 hours of experience in the Solid Fuel Equipment and Vented Decorative Gas Appliances classification.
      • Include a thorough description of each previous work performed, along with its corresponding dates, employers, and length of work.
      • Include the types of equipment or systems worked on (e.g. venting and duct systems, types of refrigerants, tonnage, etc.).
    • If adding a new classification to an existing license, you must have held the pre-requisite classification for not less than 3 years IMMEDIATELY preceding the date of your application to qualify to add a classification.

  4. Take the exam(s).
  5. Upon successful completion of the exams, the testing company will notify the licensing board and a license will be issued.
