The LP Distribution Piping Contractor License allows you to do the following work:

• Fuel gas (liquified petroleum) piping

An LP Distribution Piping Contractor license is limited to the installation of fuel gas piping from first stage regulator outlet to second stage regulator inlet.

How to Get the LP Distribution Piping Contractor's License in Michigan?

1. Satisfy the criteria for licensure:
   • Be of good moral character.
   • Have at least 3 years or 6,000 hours of experience in the LP Distribution Piping classification.
     • Include a thorough description of each previous work performed, along with its corresponding dates, employers, and length of work.
     • Include the types of equipment or systems worked on (e.g. venting and duct systems, types of refrigerants, tonnage, etc.).
   • If adding a new classification to an existing license, you must have held the pre-requisite classification for not less than 3 years IMMEDIATELY preceding the date of your application to qualify to add a classification.
2. Fill out an online application or send a completed paper form by mail to P.O. Box 30255, Lansing, MI 48909, along with the corresponding non-refundable application fee and the required documents.
3. Expect a response from the corresponding Department and if approved PSI© will contact the applicant in order to schedule the examination.
4. Take the exam(s).
5. Upon successful completion of the exams, the testing company will notify the licensing board and a license will be issued.
