Elevators and Mobile Homes

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) is responsible for the regulation of Michigan contractors. LARA ensures that all those practicing businesses within the state are adequately licensed. LARA extends to several Bureaus, among which we can highlight the Bureau of Construction Codes (BCC). BCC is responsible for examining and licensing contractors in boilers, electrical, elevator, mechanical, plumbing, residential builders, and maintenance and alteration. BCC comprises several divisions, such as the Elevator Division and the Mobile Homes Division

The Elevator Division enforces the Michigan Elevator Code, including elevator registration, application, examination, and licensing. The Mobile Homes Division is in charge of the Mobile Homes program, which regulates the dealer, repair, and installer licenses.
