Michigan Basement Waterproofing (T) Contractor License
The Basement Waterproofing (T) Contractor License allows you to do the following work:
- Using materials to prevent water leakage
- Implementing prevention strategies for waterproofing
- Installing and repairing waterproof coatings
Note that you can also engage in any other trade if it is incidental to basement waterproofing.
The Basement Waterproofing license is part of the Maintenace and Alteration category of licenses. Other trades related to Maintenance and Alteration include Carpentry, Concrete, Excavation, House Wrecking, Insulation, Masonry, Roofing, Screen & Storm Sash, Gutters, Siding, Swimming Pools, and Tile & Marble.
How to apply for a Basement Waterproofing (T) Contractor's License?
In order to obtain a Basement Waterproofing (T) Contractor's License the applicant must follow these steps:
- Take the 60 hours of approved prelicensure education course (this must be taken through an approved provider.
- Be of good moral character.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Submit an application with the corresponding fee and the following documents:
- Copy of the certificate of completion of the prelicensure course.
- Copy of the driver’s license or of any state ID.
- Consent to Service of Process form (For non-Michigan residents only).
- If the applicant has a past criminal record, the Request for Conviction History Form must be submitted.
- If applying for the Maintenance & Alteration License, the applicant must select the Basement Waterproofing (T) classification for the test.

- Take and pass the Business and Basement Waterproofing (T) Contractor examinations within one year of application approval.
- Upon passing the exams, you will receive your contractor’s license.
