Miami-Dade County Contractor Licenses

Select a license to view its requirements, definition, exams, books, and classes. If your license is not listed as Miami-Dade County License, please select a Florida License. The Construction Trades Qualifying Board of Miami-Dade County states that all other categories (Except Journeyman and Maintenance) must take the two part exam (Technical and Business).

Miami Dade County office is still accepting applications with an expiration date of July 2023. The affected and remaining licenses can be viewed on the Miami-Dade Contractor License Category page. A contractor license is not needed if an applicant has a trade that does not need to pull permits. You will need to obtain a Building, Residential, or GC license to pull permits or remain a licensed contracting company. For updated information on each county response, visit our Blog on the Preemption local occupational licensing in Florida.

State of Florida Certified Contractors

Miami-Dade County provides a voluntary registration process that makes it easier for state contractors who are performing work in Unincorporated Dade County to obtain permits.
The process includes verification of the contractor’s license status, photocopying the driver’s license, and obtaining a copy of the current General Liability and Worker’s Compensation Insurance. This information is then placed in our computer system, which allows the Miami-Dade County to expeditiously verify the state contractor’s information, without the contractor having to present the required document each time.
