The Specialty Electrician Contractor License allows you to do the following:
- Perform experienced electrical work in a limited or specialized area:
- HVAC
- Low Voltage
- Electric Sign
- Single Family Dwelling
How to Get the Specialty Electrician Contractor’s License in West Virginia?
- Fulfill the requirements:
- 4000 hours or two years of electrical work experience relevant to the specialty area the applicant is applying for; these are:
- Fill out the application form to schedule the Office’s Electrical examination (dates and locations), and return all the documents to:

Charleston, WV 25301- Candidates also have the option to apply online and schedule the examination through the Public Portal established by the Office
- Acquire the license after successfully passing the exam and approval of the West Virginia Fire Commission Office of the State Fire Marshal
