Shutter/Opening Protective Specialty Contractor--Class "SO": The scope of work of a Class "SO" specialty building contractor shall include and be limited to the fabrication, assembling, application, handling, erection, installation, dismantling, adjusting, alteration, repair, and servicing of protective shutters, panels, and other windstorm protective devices, except impact-resistant glazing, certified in accordance with AAMA 101/I.S.2 or Miami-Dade TAS 201, 202, 203, as specified by the Florida Building Code in buildings of any height of Group R occupancy, as defined by the Florida Building Code. This shall include all types of shutters and panels, including hardware, structural supports, and operating devices, that are designed to protect openings from hurricane and storm force winds and windborne debris and for security purposes. In order to be eligible to be certified as a Class "SO" specialty building contractor by the board, the applicant shall have at least one (1) year of practical experience in the category.
