General License For Monroe County (GITS©)

General contractor means those whose services are unlimited as to the type of work they may do as follows: any person who, for compensation, undertakes to or submits a bid to or does himself or by others, construct, repair, alter, remodel, add to, subtract from, improve any building or structure, including related improvements to real estate for others, or for resale to others. If the services affect the structural members of the building, drawings sealed by an engineer or architect are required. However, a contractor shall subcontract the electrical, plumbing, mechanical, roofing, sheet metal, and air conditioning work, unless he holds a certificate of competency for the respective trade. However, he shall not be required to subcontract for shingle roofing.
