Is Bankruptcy a Reason to Deny an Application for a Contractors License in Arizona?

The Registrar of Contractors may reject a Contractor's License application on grounds including bankruptcy, certain types of criminal charges, and infractions involving previous Licenses. Instead, your remedy is to take legal action seeking to force the ROC to either approve or reject your License application.

If the ROC has rejected your License application, you can request a hearing, where an administrative law judge can and often does approve an application that the ROC has rejected. Time is of the essence, as you must make your request for a hearing within 30 days from the day you receive your rejection notice.
