The Sewer, Sewage Disposal, Drain, and Pipe Laying (C-43) Contractor License allows you to work with the following:

  • Concrete and masonry sewers
  • Packaged sewer disposal plants
  • Sewage lift stations
  • Septic tanks
  • Steel, cast iron, concrete, vitreous and nonvitreous, plastic, and any other type of piping for storm drains, water, and gas lines, irrigation and sewers, and manholes
  • Pipeline repair and recondition
  • Incidental excavation, grading, trenching, backfilling, paving, and surfacing

How to Get the Sewer, Sewage Disposal, Drain, and Pipe Laying (C-43) Contractor’s License in Hawaii?

  1. Meet the experience requirements: Be not less than 18 years of age, have 4 years of supervisory experience within the past 10 years, and be employed by a licensed contracting entity
  2. Register with the Hawaii Business Registration Division
  3. Possess a good reputation for honesty, truthfulness, financial integrity, and fair dealing
  4. Obtain liability and workers' compensation insurance
  5. Employ a licensed individual who is designated Responsible Managing Employee (RME)
  6. Attach the application fee (non-refundable) to your application
  7. Fill & submit your Application to the Honolulu Office on or before the first Tuesday of the month, two months prior to the scheduled meeting date
  8. Send a current (not more than a year old) Financial Statement accompanied by an independent accountant's report
  9. Provide a credit report for each officer, partner, manager, or member, (from a credit reporting agency issued not more than 6 months ago) covering at least the previous 5 years
  10. Complete a Hawaii State Tax Clearance (issued not more than 6 months old) with an original State of Hawaii Department of Taxation stamp
  11. Submit a filed-stamped copy of current trade name registration approved by the Hawaii Business Registration Division (if you intend to use a trade name)
  12. Once approved by the board, schedule your exam with the testing provider
  13. After passing the examination, the Hawaii Contractors License Board will reach out to you to satisfy all license requirements, such as Workers' Compensation Insurance, Liability & Property Damage Insurance, place of business, and any other fees. Once those requirements are met, the board will issue you a license
