How to install a Fence?
- Plan out your fence (Materials & Style)
- Determine the layout of each Fence post by using chalk line as the guide. You would also need to measure the outline of the fence using a measuring wheel.
- By using a post hole digger, dig holes approximately 33% as deep as they are tall. Definitely keep in mind you would need to dig a few inches down for the gravel.
- You would need to add gravel and concrete to make sure the posts are placed properly. By pouring 3 to 4 inches of gravel down the base for proper drainage. Once the gravel is set you will be adding 6 to 8 inches of concrete mix. It could take up to 3 days for proper drying and curing.
- By using a power drill or claw hammers, you will be attaching No 8. 2 ½ deck screws or galvanized 10d x 3-inch nails to fasten the rails.
- Using the same screws you place the rails with. You will be attaching each picket to the rails. A screwdriver may be helpful in this process.
- Now to place the post caps by using a rubber mallet.
- For proper maintenance you would stain or treat the wood that can extend its life. At least every 2 to 3 years you would to apply new coats.
