Duval County (Florida) Residential Pool (GITS©) License

“Residential Swimming Pool Contractor” means a contractor whose scope of work involves, but is not limited to, the construction, repair, and service of any residential swimming pool, hot tub, or spa, in areas attached to a single family or Two-Family Dwellings. The scope of work includes the installation, repair or replacement of existing equipment, any equipment cleaning or sanitizing that requires at least partial disassembly, excluding filter changes, and the installation of new pool/spa equipment, interior finishes, the installation of packaged pool heaters, installation of all perimeter and filtration piping, and construction of equipment rooms or housing for pool/spa equipment, and also includes the scope of work of a pool/spa service contractor . The scope of such work does not include direct connections to a sanitary sewer system or potable water lines. The installation, construction, modification, or replacement of equipment permanently attached to and associated with the pool or spa for the treatment or cleaning of pool or spa water requires a license; however, the use of such equipment for water treatment or cleaning purposes shall not require a license unless the use involves the construction, modification, or replacement of such equipment. Water treatment does not require such equipment, it does not require a license. In addition, a license will not be required to clean the pool or spa in any way that does not affect the structural integrity of the pool or spa or its associated equipment. As regulated by Florida Statute, a person who has passed a Residential Swimming Pool Contractor competency exam may perform these or related tasks or may supervise individuals who work to perform these tasks.
