Permits

Building Permit Applications will be accepted and processed Monday-Friday: 8:00 am to 12:00 Building Permits are not issued after 4:30 p.m

Demolition Permit

  • Copies of all licenses and insurances
  • Demolition permit application form
  • Owner’s affidavit (signed and notarized)
  • Proof of ownership for property to be demolished
  • A plot plan of the property showing all structures, septic tank and well, if applicable, with proper identification showing structure to be demolished

Residential Driveway Apron Permit Application

  • Driveways shall not be permitted in the radius of an intersection
  • Driveways flares must be constructed within the extensions of side boundary lines of the property
  • On roads with curb and gutter, valley gutters shall be required in line with the gutter line
  • No driveway shall be located within three feet of a storm inlet
  • Residential driveway minimum widths shall be ten feet
  • Apron shall extend from edge of existing road to the right of way
  • Apron shall confirm to swale or pipe drain will be required
  • From edge if roadway for at least five feet the concrete shall be six inches with #10 6x6 wire mesh.
  • Unpaved roads are not required to have an apron
  • Existing sidewalk shall be removed

Fence Permit Application

  • All fences and walls shall be constructed in compliance with applicable building codes and in accordance with the following dimensional and use regulations
  • No fence or wall shall be permitted without the appropriate building permit

General Building Contractor Permit

  • Building Permit Application
  • Copy of signed dated contract
  • Raised seal flood elevation survey w/spot elevation where structure to be located
  • Legal Description
  • Proof of ownership
  • proof of payment
  • Three sealed sets of construction plans

Planning Application

  • Upon receipt, the development coordinator places the project on the next available TRC agenda and distributes the application packet to members of the TRC for review. The applicant is advised of the date and time of the TRC meeting
  • A consolidated list of comments and recommendations from TRC is prepared by the city planner and provided to the applicant and development coordinator
  • If there are no comments to address, the application and TRC recommendations move on to the Planning & Zoning Board. If issues need to be addressed, the applicant comes back to TRC for further review
  • The development coordinator sends notices to the applicant and surrounding property owners, posts the property and advertises the appropriate meetings
  • The Planning & Zoning Board meets and makes a recommendation to the City Council
  • The City Council meets and makes a final determination on the project. There are two meetings for applications requiring Ordinance approval; one meeting for applications involving Resolutions, Site Plans, or other non-Ordinance applications
  • Adopted Ordinances are recorded and a copy is sent to the applicant

Tree Removal Permit

  • Property boundaries and dimensions
  • Existing structures
  • The location of all trees indicating type and size in DBH (diameter at breast height) of all trees 6” in DBH or greater
  • Clearly label trees to be removed

Right-of-Way Utilization Permit

  • The offset from the centerline of the right-of-way or roadway to the proposed utility installation, the road right-of-way width and pavement width, the distance from the edge of pavement to the utility, sidewalks, and the location of all other utilities within the area of work
  • One or more typical cross sections to adequately reflect the location of the utility. Please indicate the minimum vertical clearance above or below the pavement or natural ground
  • Please indicate on the sketch information such as the location in relation to the nearest road intersection, bridges, railroad crossings, and other physical features. Please include a location or vicinity map showing the general location of the installation
