City Permits

In the City of Delray Beach, all permits will require signed contracts with two signatures. Signatures must include owner OR tenant AND contractor of record OR design professional of record.

In the City of Delray Beach the following permits are required:

Online Building Permits Self Service

The Building Permits Self Service portal allows you to

  • Check the status of your application
  • View plan review comments
  • Schedule, cancel or reschedule inspections
  • Check an inspection result
  • Check if a certain address has been issued a permit to do work

How to Apply for a Business Tax Receipt/Contractor Registration

  1. Complete (if applicable) the Zoning Certificate of use.
  2. Register your business
  3. Acquire a state license if required
  4. Select a location within city limits
  5. Complete the Contractor Registration form
  6. Find out what the tax amount is for your business type.
  7. Submit the application with documentation (proof of registration with the Division of Corporations, insurance certificates and a copy of your state license, if applicable)
  8. After your application is approved, submit payment.

You can submit your application & payment one of two ways:

  • By Mail: Address below (call to verify tax amount & make checks payable to City of Delray Beach)
  • In-Person: Address below (8:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday). A secured drop-off box is located next to the window for your convenience.
