Permits
In the city of Alachua you are required to have a Permit for the following License.
- Residential Permit Application
- Manufactured Home Permit Application

Additional Permit Documents
- Same day Permit Application: Permit expires 180 days for date of issue
- Permit Extension Request : The city allows up to a 90 day extension

- Worker’s Compensation (for workers injured on the job)
- Social Security Tax (must be deducted from the employee’s as well) Unemployment Compensation (may or may not be required)

Generally, when any owner, authorized agent, or contractor who desires to construct, enlarge, alter, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system, a permit is required. When purchasing a home or property, it is in your best interest to ensure that all structures have been properly permitted. You are legally responsible for any unpermitted structures. Fees for Permitting
Building permit applicants electing to use a private provider for building permit plan review shall be charged at 50% of the normal plan review fee. Applicants electing to use a private provider for building inspections shall be charged at 50% of the normal building permit fee. Applicants using a private provider for both plan review and inspections are eligible for the 50% reduction on both the plan review fee and the permit fee Fees for permits
