Awning Erection Category--Class "AE": The scope of work of a Class "AE" specialty building contractor shall include and be limited to the fabrication, erection, and installation of awnings and canopies which become a permanent fixed part of building or structure or which are self-supporting, and the pouring of such footings and slabs on grade as may be necessary and incidental thereto. A Class "AE" specialty building contractor may install such hardware as may be necessary and incidental to the extension and retraction of awnings and canopies. This category applies to awnings that are movable or retractable or the replacement of detachable cloth/synthetic cover material on existing frames. Electrical wiring incidental to the awning may be included in the contract for work, but shall be subcontracted to a licensed electrical contractor. This category includes, but is not limited to, metal, canvas, and storm shutters. In order to be eligible to be certified as a Class "AE" specialty building contractor by the board, he or she the applicant shall have at least three (3) years of practical experience in the category.
