How does House Bill 735 Affect me in Brevard County?

Brevard county contractors are wondering how they will be impacted by the passage of House Bill 735 in Florida. Effective May of 2021, no contractor licenses are needed for flooring, masonry, painting, or framing in Brevard county. Business performing these particular trades must still follow standard business practices in Brevard county like obtaining a business tax receipt and carrying insurance and worker’s comp.

Brevard has not made any decisions on how they will respond to House Bill 735 which will be into effect on July 2023. I want to have my own fencing company in Brevard and I heard come July 1st we don’t need a fencing license to install and repair fences?

Hello Mikaela, Brevard County has yet to respond to House Bill 735; licenses are still being regulated. Therefore, we recommend contacting Brevard County directly for a more direct answer. However, we do recommend obtaining the State reciprocal for Fencing. The State licenses that fall under that scope of work would be the General, Building, or Residential Contractor License.
